What do you guys think of this?
I think its pointless.
Some teachers, like Mr. Davis, overlook it if you follow all the other rules.
Really, has anything bad ever happened just because there were more than 8 at a table?

its just like the damn back-pack rule. Girls can carry mega-bags while guy's are left with nothing. The Senior High school has no gay-ass 8 to a table rule while the Intermediate does. Its ridiculous with no explanation. The only one I have heard is 'fire hazard'... Jesus Christ.

I'm thinking it might another one of those
"because-it's-a-rule" type rules.
Just another power trip that the teachers enjoy enforcing,
Just to "show who's in charge"

The teacher described in A Day in the Lunchroom makes the rule seem so hypocritical. They say they don't like to see outcast people sitting alone at a table, and even go so far as to ask people to join the same table at times, but then they take the groups of friends and split them up, sometimes leaving one alone at a table. And even if they split the table evenly, it wouldn't really solve the fire-hazard problem very well because of the cross-conversation between the tables. It would actually make the problem worse because the area between those two tables would be even more congested in order to try to keep everyone in the conversation.

PS: My personal record is 13 people at one table at MIHS before we got screamed at. =P

The eight to a table rule at the high school is such a joke. The lunch area is probably a third the size of the Intermediate's and there's a total of two teachers who patrol the room. The teachers don't care how many people you have at a table, just as long as you're not wearing a hat. They won't even take your phone/mp3 player (don't quote me on this, that's how it is first block both days).
Unless Mrs. Nowak is down there, then you're screwed

I've come to find the hypocrisy of rules and teachers synonymous with McDowell.
